Man on Wire, Oscar 2009 du meilleur documentaire (Date de Sortie inconnue en France)

Ce mec, je continue de l’adorer, surtout quand au hasard de ses chansons, il nous permet de découvrir un tel personnage (ce qui est quand même le comble : découvrir un français quasiment méconnu en France depuis + de 30 ans, Philippe Petit, par l’intermédiaire d’un américain…). Même si il n’a pas été diffusé dans les salles, le film est passé sur Canal + je crois et il existe en DVD.

Last year there was an amazing documentary called Man On Wire. I cited it as my favorite film of 2008, and it ended up winning Best Documentary at the 2009 Academy Awards.

At the end of the film, there is a beautiful piano composition by Erik Satie entitled 3 Gymnopédies: Gymnopédie No. 1. I’ve watched Man On Wire 3 or 4 times now, and the melody of that one composition always seems to stick with me for days every time I hear it. It’s so simple and beautiful. I don’t play very much piano, but I actually took the time to sit down and learn it since it seemed simple enough.

Man on Wire – Part 9 – Final : la partie où l’on entend la Gymnopédie d’Erik Satie intervient aux 8 minutes environ, mais d’autres scènes du film reprennent ce thème.
